𝟲𝘁𝗵 𝗩𝗜𝗦𝗨𝗔𝗟 𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗬𝗧𝗘𝗟𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗪𝗢𝗥𝗞𝗦𝗛𝗢𝗣 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗦𝗢𝗖𝗜𝗔𝗟 𝗜𝗠𝗣𝗔𝗖𝗧
In its 6th year, the Visual Storytelling Workshop will take place in Taunggyi to provide emerging film makers and engaged activists from central Myanmar and beyond the opportunity to learn how to use, research, and produce a short film on a smart phone focused on issues that have a clear social impact goal.
The workshop empowers participants to turn local and national stories into powerful videos that raise awareness, influence public perceptions, advocate for change and encourage progress toward a more open, inclusive society.
The 6-day programme offers a combination of lectures and workshops on story development, film screenings, production organisation, group tutoring (mentoring) sessions, technical exercises, social impact planning and a project pitch for advocacy purposes.
𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗲? Anyone who wants to contribute to strategic, meaningful change in society and who is using audio-visual media as a tool for advocating social causes. Minorities, vulnerable groups and women are encouraged to apply as well as NGO communication officers, civil society members, people in media organisations. Teaching and tutoring sessions will be held in English.
𝗘𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗲: o Proficiency in English. (Intermediate level) o Previous experience of using a camera or smart phone for shooting and editing images even if limited. o Laptop and smartphone.
